FIU Law rising 2L, Ronika Little, has begun her summer associate program with Genuine Parts Company (GPC) in Atlanta, Georgia.

Ronika is a dedicated, part-time evening student driven to gain legal experience. Motivated by her interest in corporate law and her goal of eventually working in an in-house counsel role, she saw the GPC summer associate program as a great opportunity to explore that path, while also making valuable connections.

Ronika is the sole summer associate at the GPC office, a fact that initially made her feel apprehensive. However, after her first day, she quickly recognized the unique advantage it offered. She’s received personalized mentorship from attorneys across departments and has had the opportunity to engage with a wide range of legal matters. So far, her work has spanned litigation, contract, labor, and employment law, and she is expected to contribute to M&A and cybersecurity-related projects later this summer.

Thanks to this exposure to new areas of law, Ronika has found interest in legal fields hadn’t considered pursuing before starting the program. In particular, she’s become especially interested in labor and employment law. Her ongoing work as a paralegal, including her experience supporting legal teams at Amazon and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, has further equipped her with the skills to approach unfamiliar legal issues with confidence. The experience has broadened her legal perspective and will serve as a strong foundation for her continued studies and future legal career.
