On June 11, Governor Ron DeSantis appointed FIU Law alumna Joanne Hernandez (J.D. ’08) as newest judge on the Miami-Dade County Court. Judge Hernandez owns and operates her own firm, Miami Law Center, P.A., where she serves as the sole practitioner. Her legal practice focuses on bankruptcy, family law, and real estate. In April, she was one of six nominees recommended by the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 11th Judicial Circuit to fill the vacancy left by Judge Jennifer Hochstadt Azar’s resignation.
She earned both her bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Juris Doctor from Florida International University.
