FIU Law recent graduate Alejandro Gonzalez (J.D. ’25) received the H.T. Smith Trial Advocacy Award, presented by the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) – Miami Chapter. ABOTA is a national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges that are dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the right to a civil jury trial-a right provided by the Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The award recognizes Alejandro’s work with the FIU Trial Team and his role in their recent run to the Elite Eight at the AAJ National Competition. “Trial Team was the highlight of my law school experience,” said Alejandro. “It gave me purpose, taught me to think on my feet, and reminded me why I chose this path. I can’t wait to carry those lessons forward as I sit for the July Bar and begin my legal career.”
