FIU Law alumnus Adam Cervera (J.D. ’09) has been appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis to serve on the Broward County School Board.

Cervera is a member of Becker & Poliakoff P.A.’s Business Litigation and Community Association Practice Groups. His practice centers around all aspects of litigation, including real estate disputes, breach of contract actions, covenant enforcement issues, and other complex commercial matters. He is also a member of the Florida Bar’s Eleventh Circuit Grievance Committee, where he previously served as Chair.

In addition to his legal work, Cervera has contributed meaningfully to his community. He was a regional board member for Read to a Child, a national literacy and mentoring non-profit that fosters a love of reading, improves literacy skills, and supports socio-emotional well-being in students from under-resourced communities.

During his time at FIU Law, Cervera worked on behalf of underprivileged children in South Florida through multiple clinical programs. He was actively involved with the Children Education Advocacy Clinic, where he worked vigorously on behalf of special needs children fighting for their entitled services within the South Florida public school system.
