On Friday, Feb. 28, Miami-Dade County held a street renaming ceremony in recognition of esteemed attorney, leader, community advocate, and FIU Law Professor H.T. Smith. As a result of legislation sponsored by Commissioner Marleine Bastien, a portion of Northwest 69th Street between Northwest 22nd and Northwest 27th avenues will now officially be known as “H.T. Smith Street.”
Professor Smith is the founding director of the Trial Advocacy Program at Florida International University College of Law, mentoring future generations of legal professionals. We are honored to witness his impact not only on Miami-Dade County but also at FIU Law, where his contributions continue to inspire and shape the future of legal education.
