Professor Eric Carpenter was recently featured in a Military.com article discussing the Army’s new guidance advising soldiers to avoid foods with poppy seeds to prevent false-positive drug tests. Some poppy seed varieties contain codeine, a Schedule II drug that could show up in screenings.
Carpenter explained, “Word will get out that you can’t order poppy seeds anymore… It gives everybody a bright line, which is, don’t go anywhere near that, because it might show up on your drug test.”
