Congratulations to Patricia Mesa ’13 who was honored with the Pro Bono Family Law Firm Award. The award was presented on May 23, 2023 during the Dade Legal Aid Annual Nuts & Bolts of Divorce Seminar.

“Working with Dade Legal aid to provide pro-bono services to indigent persons in our community is probably the most satisfying part of my work,” said Mesa. “I have had the privilege of working with some wonderful individuals who are very appreciative of the work I have done for them.”

In this capacity, Patricia helps individuals that without an attorney would have a lot of difficulty navigating this family law arena. “In most cases I am appointed as a Guardian Ad Litem for minor children who are victims of abuse or who are in the middle of high-conflict family law disputes,” said Mesa. “Being able to provide the Court with recommendations as to the best interest of the minor children allows the Court to make informed decisions that will impact the lives of the children for the rest of their lives. I like to believe that my recommendations makes it easier for the Court to make a better informed decisions.”

Mesa graduated from Florida International University College of Law in 2013.  At FIU Law she was a member of the Family Law Clinic and Negotiation Team where she took first place in the Board of Advocates Negotiation Competition.
