FIU Law Library is migrating to Open Athens. Starting October 11th, your eResources will begin to shift from EZproxy to Open Athens.

What does this mean for you? Keep using the Law Library’s A-Z eResource list to obtain access to your online resources. Open Athens authentication is based on your FIU single sign-on credentials. If you are used to logging on via EZproxy with your library card number and date of birth password, that login will transition to Open Athens and you will be asked for your FIU single sign-on credentials.

During this transition, some resources will remain EZproxy while others will use Open Athens. Utilize the prompts as displayed after accessing a resource from the A-Z eResource list to ensure proper authentication.

This migration will not impact your individual logins to law-only resources including Bloomberg Law, Lexis +, Westlaw, or CALI. Additionally, EZproxy will continue to function for authentication throughout the Fall 2021 semester.

Starting next week, OpenAthens will be the primary tool to access licensed electronic resources.

Most licensed eresources from FIU Libraries are now available in OpenAthens. How do you know the difference? Utilize the FIU Libraries A-Z eResource List to be directed to eresources via Open Athens:

Test out Open Athens today in a separate browser by accessing HeinOnline in Open Athens. You will be redirected to login via your FIU single sign-on credentials, whether you are on or off campus.

FIU Law Library is replacing EZproxy with OpenAthens next week, from October 11 – 14th.

Our A-Z eResource list will be updated next week to utilize Open Athens.

How do you know the difference? Open Athens asks for your FIU single sign-on credentials. EZproxy asks for your library card number and date of birth (MMDD) as your password. You can test the difference now through October 11th via the Law Library’s A-Z eResource list:
