FIU Law Negotiation & Meditation Team Claims Victory at the 2021 ABA Philadelphia Regional Representation in Mediation Competition

Congratulations to 3Ls Audrey Franklin and Christina Ramsey of the FIU Law Negotiation & Meditation Team for their victory at the ABA Philadelphia Regional Representation in Mediation Competition. This marks the first time in FIU Law’s history that FIU Law has won an ABA Regional Representation in Mediation Competition. The competition, conducted online through Zoom, was hosted by Drexel School of Law (Philadelphia), and featured many judges and mediators from Philadelphia and Pennsylvania.

Audrey and Christina were 2-0 in the Preliminary Rounds, defeating Washington & Lee in the first round and Drexel in the second round.  Audrey and Christina made it a clean sweep, 3-0, by winning the Final Round of the Competition.  They now advance to the ABA Mediation Finals, to be held April 9-10, which features the top 10 ABA mediation teams from around the country.  A second FIU Law team, Devon Hoffman and Matthew Espino (both 3Ls), finished fourth overall in the Mediation Competition.

Prior to the Competition, and at the Competition, the teams were student-coached by Liane Martinez and Lindsay Behnke (the Co-Presidents of the Negotiation & Mediation Team–Liane and Lindsay were also the 2019 ABA Chicago Regional Negotiation Champions) and by Prof. Walter.
