Lian de la Riva ’13, an estate planning, probate, and guardianship attorney with the law firm of Markowitz Ringel Trusty + Hartog in Miami has been elected the Chair-Elect of the Hispanic National Bar Association’s National Young Lawyer’s Division (HNBA-YLD).

De la Riva will serve a two-year term as the Chair-Elect and then Chair of the HNBA-YLD. In this role, she will lead young lawyers across the country in creating community engagement and professional development programming.

The HNBA is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, national membership organization that represents the interests of Hispanic legal professionals in the US and its territories. The HNBA is committed to advocacy on issues of importance to the 58 million people of Hispanic heritage living in the U.S. The HNBA-YLD encourages young lawyers to work together on projects for their community and for their profession and to address the needs and interests of newly admitted attorneys. The HNBA-YLD is committed to representing the newest members of the profession effectively, ensuring that it reflects the society it serves and providing young lawyers with the tools and opportunities for success.

De la Riva is a member of the firm’s Probate & Guardianship group and concentrates her practice in the areas of estate planning, probate, and guardianship law. She is admitted to practice in Florida and is a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association and a Founding Board Member of their Young Lawyers Division (Region VIII). In 2017, de la Riva was named a Fellow of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar. She is also a member of the Young Lawyers Section, Elder Law Section, and the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar.
