New Kluwer Law Online – Access Support

Here is the latest update:

Pop-up blockers

Kluwer Law Online makes use of pop-ups:

Firefox: you get the option to allow pop-ups for the site and then you can download the PDFs.

Chrome: may not recognize that the site is trying to open a pop-up, so you may not get an alert that the site is trying to open a pop-up. When you manually add the site as an exception to pop-up blocking, this should work.

Safari, Chrome, Edge & Internet Explorer – in case you have issues with opening PDFs we advise you to check your pop-up settings for Kluwer Law Online.

IP access

If your Institution uses IPv6 in addition to IPv4 to access Kluwer Law Online, this may have caused problems. We applied a fix on Saturday 18th April, so that this access should work now.

EZ Proxy Access

You find the updated details on the OCLC site: https://help.oclc.org/Library_Management/ EZproxy/Database_stanzas/Kluwer_Law

It is important to check your pop-up settings (see section Popup Blockers above).

Should you continue to experience issues, please note the following recommendations from OCLC:

  1. Upgrade to EZproxy 6.2.2 as new Kluwer Law Online uses HTTPS.
  2. If you use a URL rewriting proxy server such as III WAM or OCLC EZProxy, you will need to make changes to your proxy server configurations to use HTTPS and not HTTP. For more information on those changes, the OCLC support site includes stanzas (snippets of EZProxy configuration) for most publishers at: https://www.oclc.org/support/services/ ezproxy/documentation/db.en.html.
  3. As most libraries use URL rewriting proxy servers to extend IP authentication access to remote users, it should be noted Literatum although not officially supported, is proven to work well with proxies for this purpose.

If you are making use of EZ Proxy via OCLC, you can contact their service desk at OCLC Customer Support [support@oclc.org]support@oclc.org.

OpenAthens & Shibboleth Access

In case you have issues with access to Kluwer Law Online via OpenAthens or Shibboleth, please contact TechSupport (LRSUSTechnicalSupport@wolterskluwer.com).

Page Load & Internet Explorer

We have improved the page load, as well as the performance for Internet Explorer (version 11). A new version was deployed on Saturday 18th April. We will continue to look into other ways to improve the performance of our services.

Redirects & bookmarks

We introduced further improvements for redirects pointing to chapters and articles on Saturday 18th April, and will continue to improve the redirects. In case you come across such links that do not work, please go to the page you need by scrolling from the home page of Kluwer Law Online.

Google Scholar

We are working with Google Scholar to finalize the integration. Unfortunately, we will need more time than planned to finalize our integration. We will keep you posted on this.

Content

Due to technical issues some content published between November 2019 and March 2020 was not updated correctly. We are in the process of reloading the missing content. This task will be completed by Monday April 20. In case you come across content that is not yet available, please check on Retro Kluwer Law Online for the up-to-date content (see next section).

Access to Retro Kluwer Law Online as temporary solution

If you have access issues you can use this link to Retro Kluwer Law Online or click on the link on the home page of www.kluwerlawonline.com. For the ‘Retro’ site access via IP, EZ Proxy, Open Athens and Shibboleth should work as before.

Please note that the content on Retro Kluwer Law Online will be kept up-to-date until the end of May.

Based on your feedback we continue to address these and other issues that you report. Should you continue to experience problems, please contact our technical support team via LRSUSTechnicalSupport@wolterskluwer.com. Technical support is available from 09:00 am to 5:30 pm (GMT) Monday to Friday.
