On February 13 – 15, 2020, FIU Law hosted the International Association of Law Schools (IALS) 2020 Americas Regional Law Deans’ Forum. The 2020 theme was “Current Challenges and Opportunities for Law School Leadership in Defining a Responsive Legal Education.” The workshop had five topics, which built on prior research and discussions among law school leaders.  Most are tied to specific programs of the Association.

These workshops served to distill and focus regional perspectives on legal education. This was an opportunity for participants to engage with other law school leaders to develop a critical set of issues and proposals in developing a global approach to the challenges facing legal education today. The following topics were explored:

  • Evaluation, Assistance and Certification Program – Contextualizing our Evaluation and Advice.
  • Principles and Guidelines for a Rational Legal Discourse
  • Publish or Perish – Defining the Association’s Publication Strategy
  • Raising Your Global Profile
  • Student Law Institute
