Congratulations to Loune-Djenia Askew, Tremaine Hemans, and Kishel Stubbs who recently won scholarships from the Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. Bar Association.

Loune-Djenia Askew, a 3L, received the Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. Bar Association Foundation Scholarship. Tremaine Hemans, a 2019 FIU law graduate, received the Rodney B. Thaxton scholarship and a Book award made possible by FIU Law alumna, TerryAnn Howell. Kishel Stubbs, a 2L, received the Vincent P. McGhee scholarship and a UP-Pac Book Award.

The Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. Bar Association is the oldest and largest association of Black attorneys in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The Association has provided financial assistance and mentoring to a large number of law and undergraduate students. From its inception, the members have sought to remove the barriers to full inclusion in the legal community in Miami-Dade County. The Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. Bar Association continues its rich legacy by providing a voice for Black legal professionals and the communities it serves and remains committed to the ideal of equal access, equal opportunity, and equal justice in the legal system.
