The Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr., Bar Association recently presented Professor H.T. Smith with its Living Legend Award.

Professor Smith is a trailblazing trial lawyer and civil rights pioneer, and serves as the founding director of the FIU College of Law Trial Advocacy Program.

The Living Legend Award, given during the Ferguson Bar’s Legacy Ball, recognized Professor Smith’s lasting contributions to the legal system and commemorated his exceptional leadership of the successful Boycott Miami campaign.

The WDFJBA is Miami’s oldest and largest association of Black attorneys.  Formerly known as the Black Lawyers of Miami, for over 40 years the Ferguson Bar has served the Miami-Dade community by cultivating excellence and inclusion in the legal profession, promoting diversity in legal education, and advocating for equal access, equal opportunity, and equal justice.
