Delitos de Odio: Derecho Comparado y Regulacion Española, whose title translates to “Hate Crimes: Comparative Law and Spanish Regulation” seeks to help clarify the terms of the debate, dispelling doubts about what can be considered “dark areas” of the prohibition area and guiding what should be the line of interpretation that maximizes the protective function of freedoms in a social state and democratic law. To this end, a complete and updated comprehensive study of comparative law is carried out, covering the state of the question in key countries with a long tradition of dealing with problems related to the difficulties of coexistence in multiethnic societies. The regulation of the most relevant continental European countries (Germany, Austria, and France) of the common law (the United Kingdom and the United States) and of Latin America is reviewed in a clear and synthetic way. Thus, the reader is offered a completely accessible and up-to-date manual of comparative law on hate crimes and also a study of Spanish regulations completely adapted to its recent evolution after the last reform of the criminal code on the subject.
