With Professor Catharine MacMillan (King’s College London), M.C. Mirow served as co-chair for the program committee of annual meeting of the American Society for Legal History, Houston, Texas, November 8-11, 2018. The program included over 50 panels and brought over 360 legal historians from around the world for the three-day conference. Mirow also filled in as a chair and commentator at the last minute for the panel “People and Proprietary Rights in the New World” when the scheduled chair was unable to attend. He also serves the society as a member of the editorial board of the society’s publication Law & History Review (Cambridge University Press) and as a selection committee member for the Peter Gonville Stein Book Award. Mirow was pleased to see his colleagues Professor Victor Uribe (FIU Law and History) and Bianca Premo (FIU History) at the meeting. “The interdisciplinary nature of legal history pulls scholars from several fields to meet and to share their research. I have been doing this kind of work for a long time and I have been involved with this society for over 30 years. I was honored to be asked to serve the society in this way,” said Mirow.

Professor Mirow is a founding faculty of FIU College of Law and member of the Florida Bar. He publishes on legal history and property. To read Professor Mirow’s works, visit his Selected Works gallery.
