At this Halloween’s Tuesday Times Roundtable, Professor H. Scott Fingerhut presented “Trick or Treat:  ‘Fake News’ and ‘Alternative Facts’ in an Age of Literal Truthiness,” a discussion on freedom and the importance of vigilance to the objective validities of truth, justice, and character.

FIU’s Tuesday Times Roundtable is a weekly series of moderated conversations on The New York Times articles from the multiple viewpoints of students, faculty, and staff.

This was Professor Fingerhut’s third appearance at the Roundtable.  His selected “article” this year was this February advertisement on truth from the Times.

Professor Fingerhut is in his 18th year at FIU and serves as Assistant Director of the College of Law Trial Advocacy Program.  He teaches Trial Advocacy, Pretrial Practice, and Criminal Procedure, and also serves as a Faculty Fellow in FIU’s Honors College, where he delivered thekeynote address at last fall’s Graduation Assembly.
