On September 22, 2017, Professor Charles C. Jalloh participated in a high level event on the theme “Sustaining Peace Through the Strengthening of Human Rights in International Law” at the United Nations in New York. The event, which was co-organized by the permanent missions of Sierra Leone, Costa Rica and the Netherlands to the United Nations as well as the UN’s Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, featured several high-level dignitaries. This included the vice president of Costa Rica, the foreign ministers of Netherlands and Sierra Leone as well as the vice president of the International Court of Justice, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the assistant UN Secretary-General for Rule of Law and Security Institutions. Prof. Jalloh is a tenured professor at FIU Law, the Founding Director of the African Court Research Initiative (ACRI) and was a FIU Top Scholar for 2015. A member of the International Law Commission, elected by the UN General Assembly in November 2016, he contributes to FIU Law’s Legal Studies Research Paper Series and his works can be followed in SSRN.
