Professor M.C. Mirow presented “The Supreme Court, Florida Land Claims, and Derecho Indiano” at a conference on Spanish and French law in Louisiana and Florida on November 4, 2016. Sponsored by Tulane Law School and the Portalis Society, the conference brought together scholars from around the world to discuss the impact of European law in the development of the law of Louisiana and Florida. Professor Mirow addressed approximately 50 cases that settled claims to Florida lands in the U.S. Supreme Court between 1830 and 1930. He is a member of the Florida bar and a founding faculty member of the College of Law.
