The FIU Law Board of Advocates (BOA) Negotiation Team reached another milestone this past weekend as not one, not two, but three teams swept the ABA Southeast Regional Rounds and were named Champions, Runner-Up and Second Runner-Up. To top it off, this is the third consecutive year that FIU Law has won the ABA Southeast Regionals. The competition was held at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia and featured 24 teams from Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina.

Congratulations to the Championship Team of Chris Miranda and Jihane Elizee. Miranda was a member of last year’s ABA Championship team, and Elizee was a member of the BLSA Nelson Mandela International Negotiation Competition Runner-Up team. Kudos also goes out to the Runner-Up Team of Omar Ali-Shamaa and Kathleen Pfahlert and to the Second Runner-up Team of Christopher Pina and Marina Veiga.

Miranda/Elizee and Ali-Shamaa/Pfahlert will advance to the ABA National Negotiation Finals which will be held in Houston in February 2015. The Finals will showcase the top 24 law school negotiation teams.

The teams were student coached by Sarah Valdés, Scheril Murray Powell, Daniel Horton, Guybert (Jimmy) Paul, Nick Neville, Linda Valdes, Kristy Robaina, Diane Alvarez, and Elroy John.  Professor David Walter is the faculty coach.
