Once again, attorneys in FIU Law’s LawBridge™ program provided free legal assistance to those in need. Alumni Abraham Benhayoun, Sam Gonas, Gawayne Kelly, Rebecca Nunez and Mirene Mairena participated in the Legal Services of Greater Miami’s Small Claims Court Clinic – a joint project with the Put Something Back Project. The group of volunteer attorneys gave free legal advice to people who want to bring or defend a Small Claims Court case.

The volunteer attorneys met one-on-one with clients and provided advice about the clients’ Small Claims Court case.

The volunteer attorneys are part of FIU Law’s LawBridge™ program – a legal residency program that provides guidance after law school. LawBridge™ was created by FIU Law and combines approaches used in medical residency programs with those used in business incubator settings. This hybrid, apprentice-style approach helps new lawyers start their solo practitioner journey.
