On September 11, 2014, FIU Law welcomed Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Jorge Labarga, former Justice Raoul Cantero, Third District Court of Appeal Chief Judge-Elect Richard Suarez, and Chief Judge Bertila Soto for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida Committee on Professionalism’s Second Annual Professionalism and Civility Summit.
The summit of judges and representatives from law firms came together to create solutions to issues of incivility and unprofessionalism in the legal profession.
In 1998, the Florida Supreme Court requested that the Chief Judge of every judicial circuit appoint a Circuit Committee of Professionalism that would be charged with the overall responsibility of initiating and coordinating activities aimed at improving professionalism within each circuit. This is one of many programs and summits that are presented by the Eleventh Judicial Circuit.
