MIAMI (March 12, 2013) – In the U.S. News & World Report’s 2014 edition of Best Graduate Schools, the Florida International University College of Law has risen to 105 among top law schools – up from 113 last year, an eight point rise.

In just four years, FIU Law has ascended from unranked (below 150), to 132, to 113, to their present ranking of 105. This represents an increase of more than 44 spots since 2009.

At 105, FIU Law is tied with long-established schools such as Mercer University, Texas Tech University, and Wayne State University.

Professor Jose Gabilondo was quoted in a U.S. News and World Report about Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen’s comments professing admiration for Fidel Castro. Professor Gabilondo is a nationally recognized commentator in the Spanish-language media.

MIAMI (March 13, 2012) – Florida International University’s College of Law jumped 19 spots in U.S. News and World Report’s 2013 edition of Best Graduate Schools, from 132 to 113.

“These rankings recognize what we already know, that the FIU College of Law is on the right track,” said College of Law Dean R. Alexander Acosta. “As we celebrate our 10^th anniversary, I am proud of what this law school, its faculty and students have achieved in such a short time. As South Florida’s only public law school, our students receive a superb legal education without the crushing debt burden too often faced by law students at other schools. This community should be proud of FIU College of Law’s accomplishments, the standards we have set and the graduates we produce.”

The rankings place FIU College of Law in fourth place among Florida’s 11 law schools as the 3rd most diverse law school in the nation.
