Moreno to Represent the Society for Pediatric Radiology at Meeting

Based on her recent work, Joelle Anne Moreno, associate dean and professor at the FIU College of Law, will represent the Society for Pediatric Radiology at the the 2013 Annual Meeting of the Ray E. Helfer Society.

The Helfer Society is an honorary society of physicians seeking to provide medical leadership regarding the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and research concerning child abuse and neglect.

This year, their annual meeting will take place April 14 to 17, in the wine country of Sonoma, California.

Prof. Joëlle Anne Moreno Quoted on Florida’s Stand Your Ground Law

In the MinnPost, FIU Law Professor Joëlle Anne Moreno is quoted on the future of Florida’s Stand Your Ground law. Professor Moreno is part of a panel convened by state Sen. Chris Smith (D) tasked with reviewing the law.

Professor Joëlle Anne Moreno is the College of Law’s first Associate Dean for Faculty Research & Development, supporting the development of the faculty as scholars and teachers.  She is an experienced teacher of Evidence, Scientific and Forensic Evidence, Criminal Procedure, Criminal Law, Criminal Advocacy, and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Her research and scholarship focuses on evidence and constitutional law issues and includes articles that have appeared in the Boston University, Florida, Ohio State, Arizona, Tulane, Utah, and Akron law reviews.

Professor Joelle Moreno to address American Academy of Pediatrics

Professor Joëlle Moreno will address an international audience of over 300 radiologists, pediatricians, emergency room physicians, radiologic technologists, health care professionals and legal professionals at a medical-legal conference in Orlando, FL.  Her two talks on Responsible Experts and The Law of Child Abuse Evidence will be presented at a medical-legal conference sponsored by the American Academy of Pediatrics entitled Imaging of Child Abuse:  Fact, Fiction and Responsible Action.

Professor Joelle Moreno to deliver remarks at U.S. Southern Command Conference

MIAMI (September 15, 2011) — FIU Law Professor Joelle Moreno will address the annual COJUMA meeting at United States Southern Command today. The COJUMA (Comite Juridico Militar de las Americas) is the American Military Legal Committee and includes military and civilian attorneys from the region.

Professor Moreno will discuss, “How Legitimate Evidentiary Principles and Practice Help to Establish and Maintain the Rule of Law” to an audience of Senior Military officials and civilian representatives from 21 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean
