SBA (Student Bar Association)
The Student Bar Association (SBA) is an organization dedicated to the
representation and promotion of the interests and goals of the student
body of the Florida International University College of Law. The SBA
is a student run organization that serves as a parent organization from
which other student associations stem.
In addition to representing the
individual needs and concerns of the student body, the SBA strives to
plan events that unite the students
and faculty while providing an opportunity to assist the community. During
its first year, the SBA arranged for the students and faculty to participate
in Habitat for Humanity, an organization that builds houses for the needy;
it organized a food drive to donate canned goods to needy families for
Thanksgiving; and a toy drive for abused and neglected children during
the Holidays.
The SBA also plans social events for the students. Among
the social events that took place during the first year are: end-of-semester
parties at
John Martin's and Bongo's Cuban Cafe; Florida Panthers' hockey
games; a St. Patrick's Day gathering at John Martin's; and
a Barristers' Ball at the Ritz Carlton Coconut Grove.
