CALS (Cuban-American Law Society)
The Cuban-American Law Society was established in 2002 at the
Florida International University College of Law to bring together, by
association, communication and organization, law students, attorneys,
and scholars who have an interest in issues affecting or relating to Cuban-Americans
and the island of Cuba. We provide for the exchange among the members
of this association of such information and ideas related to the practice
of law and as calculated to enhance and improve the knowledge and skills
of the members of the association. We also mentor high school, college,
and first-year law students, provide resources and enhance opportunities
for the education of future attorneys of Cuban-American origin. The Cuban-American
Law Society supports and works for the improvement of the legal system
as it exists in Florida and elsewhere. Furthermore, we provide pro bono
service to the Spanish-speaking community, promote improvements in the
administration of justice and an increase in the quantity and quality
of the services and contributions which the legal profession renders to
the Cuban-American community, the state and the nation.
