MIAMI (May 26, 2011) – On Friday, Florida International University will graduate a new class of lawyers determined to make an impact. And they are being welcomed to the profession by two attorneys who have made their mark in public service: U.S. Senator Marco Rubio and Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Charles T. Canady.
“These students are engaged and accomplished,” said FIU College of Law Dean R. Alexander Acosta of the Class of 2011. “Many of them have had an opportunity to see, firsthand, how the law can change a life, right a wrong and make a difference. Senator Rubio and Chief Justice Canady will inspire them to continue on this path.”
Class valedictorian Jarred Reiling was inspired by the law at an early age when he and his sister took steps that resulted in a judge putting him in foster care. Jarred finished high school, went to college, is graduating at the top of his class and is on his way to a coveted Presidential Management Fellowship.
