Thank you for considering Florida International University College of Law as your gateway into the legal profession. Though a young institution, the FIU College of Law is rapidly gaining a distinguished national reputation.
We have appointed an exceptional group of faculty scholars who have built a rigorous academic program, implemented one of the largest in-house clinical programs in the State of Florida, enrolled nine classes of highly qualified law students, and moved into a state-of-the-art teaching facility. The National Jurist ranks us among the top ten schools for best value
in legal education.
Our students this year achieved the highest bar passage rate of all Florida law schools.
Students are at the heart of the FIU College of Law. We consider each of our students a unique individual, whose education deserves the nurturing of personal interaction with our faculty. To this end, we recently reduced our class size by 30% to ensure increased opportunities for personal attention. We also feel that it is our duty to help create global citizens who are the leaders of tomorrow. The ongoing trend toward globalization demands lawyers who are not only well prepared in the conventional areas of legal education, but who are also comfortable with international and comparative approaches to legal issues. Recognizing this trend of the modern economy, we have completely integrated international and comparative legal studies into our curriculum. Your education at FIU College of Law, while including all of the traditional elements of legal education, will also address the aspects of international and comparative law arising within each subject area. We offer a balanced academic program that includes both doctrinal and clinical education. The faculty at the FIU College of Law are proven classroom instructors and leaders in social engagement. Our professors come from a number of institutions and backgrounds, and are widely published scholars with exceptional credentials. Our clinics provide our students the ability to gain real world experience in areas such as community business development, immigration and human rights, and juvenile justice.
