Sailaja Tumrukota received her M.A. in English Literature from Andhra University, India. While working full-time as the Serials Manager at the University of Miami Law Library and overseeing the daily operations of the department, Tumrukota received her M.L.S. from the University of South Florida.
Tumrukota has 28 years of library experience in both main and law libraries, working in various capacities. Before coming to the Florida International University Law Library, Tumrukota worked as the Access Services Coordinator managing the Circulation, Reserve, Media Center and Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery services at St. Thomas University Law Library. She also worked as the Statistical and Financial Manager, supervising the staff and student assistants, in the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) department of the University of Miami’s Otto G. Richter Library for seven years and prior to that, in Public Services departments including Circulation and Reference.
At FIU College of Law, Tumrukota manages and supervises the Acquisitions Department and coordinates the Law Library resources budget in close consultation with the Director of the Law Library. She oversees and monitors the daily operations of the Serials Department in ordering/receiving materials and making materials available to patrons in a timely manner.
Tumrukota has served as the Treasurer and later on as the Secretary of the Dade County Library Association. She has also participated in the Southeast Florida Library Information Network (SEFLIN) ILL committee.
