Marci Rosenthal brings to FIU a wealth of diverse practice and experience.
She began her legal career in 1996, clerking for two years with
the Honorable Jose A. Gonzalez, Jr., of the United States District
Court for the Southern District of Florida, before moving into private
practice as a litigation associate with a Washington, D.C. law firm.
After working in the private sector, Professor Rosenthal joined
the United States Department of Education, Office of the General
Counsel, specializing in issues related to the Family Educational
Rights and Privacy Act. While practicing in Washington, D.C., she
also worked with Project Citizenship, a pro bono program to assist
elderly immigrants in obtaining citizenship, and taught Legal Research
and Writing as an adjunct at George Washington University Law School.
In 2002, Professor Rosenthal returned to Florida to work as
an attorney for the School Board of Miami-Dade County. Over
the course of her legal career, Professor Rosenthal has gained substantial
pretrial and trial litigation experience before state and federal
courts and administrative agencies. As a law student at the University
of Miami, Professor Rosenthal served on the University of Miami’s
Inter-American Law Review and as the Vice-President and Director
of the Tutorial Program of the Moot Court Board. Professor
Rosenthal earned her B.A. in Russian and Post-Soviet Studies from
Cornell University, and she graduated from both Cornell University
and the University of Miami School of Law with honors.
