Danilo Castillo manages and oversees all fiscal, administrative, and human resources functions for both the College of Law, and the Legal Studies Institute at FIU.
Mr. Castillo has more than 11 years of professional experience in management, operations, finance, and accounting within private, public, and university settings including United Parcel Service (UPS), Johnson & Johnson (Finance and Tax Department), PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Florida International University.
Mr. Castillo graduated with honors from both the Bachelor of Accounting and the Executive Masters of Science in Taxation programs at Florida International University, and is certified in strategic financial analyses and strategic management by Harvard Business School. He is also a scholarship recipient from Harvard Business School to attend their P.L.D. program, which he is currently pursuing and will complete in June 2014.
Castillo is an active member of NACUBO- National Association of College and University Business Officers (University CFO’s). He was nominated in 2013 for the NACUBO “Rising Star Award” on behalf of Florida International University’s Sr. Vice President and CFO, Kenneth Jessell. In July of 2013 he was selected by NACUBO as the recipient of the national “Rising Star Award”, which recommends the potential of a finance executive for the university CFO level.
Castillo is also an active member of the worldwide IMA organization (Institute of Management Accountants) and has been nominated for the “IMA 2014 Young Professional Award”. He is also an active member of the AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants), ALPFA (Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting) and Beta Alpha Psi (International Honors Accounting Fraternity).
In addition, Mr. Castillo provides guest lectures in area topics, such as Forensic Accounting for the Corporate Compliance Program offered by the FIU College of Law and the FIU College of Business.
During his free time, Mr. Castillo conducts accounting consulting work for client organizations.
