Professor Renee Schimkat is an attorney with Carlton Fields, P.A., in Miami. She previously worked at American International Group, Inc., in New York City before relocating to Miami several years ago.
Professor Schimkat’s work has covered a wide range of insurance and other complex litigation issues. At AIG, she managed high-profile claims against directors and officers of Fortune 3000 companies and developed and implemented strategies for the resolution of securities and employment class actions. At Carlton Fields, her full-time practice focused on complex commercial, insurance, and securities litigations. Now part time at the firm, Professor Schimkat continues to represent insurance companies in coverage matters. She handles insurance litigation in both state and federal courts and has experience with many types of insurance policies including those providing fidelity, director and officer liability, and professional liability coverage.
Professor Schimkat received her Bachelor of Arts from Syracuse University and her Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law. She is admitted to practice law in the State Courts of Florida, New York, and New Jersey; the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the District of New Jersey; and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
