Professor Larry Leiby has practiced construction law for 35 years. He is the author of the Florida Construction Law Manual, originally published by Shepard’s/McGraw Hill (1981), now published by West annually as a text that is included as a part of the Florida Practice Series on Westlaw. Mr. Leiby has also written the construction lien and construction contracts sections of The Contractor’s Manual, published by Associated Builders and Contractors, a text authorized for the Florida state contractors’ licensing examinations.
Mr. Leiby was the founder (1976) and served as the first Chairman of the Construction Law Committee in the Real Property Section of the Florida Bar for 16 years. Mr. Leiby was on the inaugural Florida Bar Construction Law Certification Committee (2005) and later chaired that committee. Mr. Leiby helped put together the program and then served as instructor for the American Arbitration Association in training construction arbitrators, and currently serves as a mediator and arbitrator in construction law cases.
