The Animal Law Association at the FIU College of Law would like to discuss contemporary issues concerning animal law in the state of Florida and the nation. We are interested in all aspects of animal law including wills, property, divorce; the exotic pet black market; animal rights; scientific experimentation; the entertainment and puppy-mill industries; and ahimsa and veganism. We would like to sharpen our negotiation techniques in order to present a more compelling claim on behalf of animal activism as well as prepare ourselves to enter into negotiation with corporations that seek to negotiate their unfair business practices. We would like to build ties with other clubs whose constituency is comprised of or promotes groups of people who have been or are oppressed, such as BLSA, MLSA, JLSA, and Women’s Law Society. This partnering is important in order to identify why the powerless, minorities and voiceless are oppressed and how to build strategies for overcoming and deriding systematic oppression.
