FIU Law exceeds 84 percent bar passage rate, surpassing other Florida schools
Miami (September 20, 2010) – Florida International University College of Law graduates passed the July 2010 Florida bar examination at a rate of 84.2 percent, more than 5% above the statewide average, according to The Florida Board of Bar Examiners, which released bar passage rates for Florida’s eleven law schools. FIU joined the University of Florida (86.8%), Florida State University (86.2%) and the University of Miami (86%) as the only four Florida schools with passage rates above 81%. “FIU has consistently ranked at or near the top in bar passage. In February 2009, we ranked first in the state. Today’s results are a continued tribute to the hard work and dedication of our students and the skills of our faculty.” said Dean Alex Acosta.

FIU Law CDO hosts the National Black Law Students Association Annual Job Fair
The FIU Law Career Development Office will host the 6th Annual National Black Law Students Association Southern Region Job Fair (SRBLSA) on Saturday, August 7th. Registration opens at 8:00a.m. The job fair will bring together private and public sector employers with law students from approximately 50 different law schools throughout the southern region. Law student attendees will have the opportunity to meet with hiring representatives to discuss prospects for summer and associate position.

Education Advocacy Clinic at FIU Law hosting Summer Education Advocacy Series
The Education Advocacy Clinic at Florida International University’s College of Law is hosting the “Summer Education Advocacy Series.” The series is tailored for the busy parent, or family law attorney, seeking to gain practical knowledge for advocating on behalf of a child with special education needs. The first session of the series will take place on July 7th and will focus on discipline and manifestation determinations. The second session on July 14th will explain due process, mediation and resolution and the third session on July 21st will touch upon suspension, expulsion and alternative education.
