WHAT:
Newly-elected and re-elected members of the Miami-Dade Legislative Delegation will be sworn in at a local ceremony hosted by Florida International University.
NOVEMBER 5-6, 2010
This seminar will offer an opportunity to U.S. and Latin American arbitrators, practicing attorneys, corporate counsel, government officials, and academics, to discuss a broad range of issues currently at stake in the practice of investment arbitration. The program features several sessions and a showcase debate on the key issues that arise in investment arbitration. A number of well-known experts in the field of investment arbitration will be among the discussants and presenters at this seminar. This event will be hosted at Florida International University College of Law and is co-organized by FIU’s Global Legal Studies Initiative and the Instituto Latinamericano de Arbitraje.

FIU Law exceeds 84 percent bar passage rate, surpassing other Florida schools
Miami (September 20, 2010) – Florida International University College of Law graduates passed the July 2010 Florida bar examination at a rate of 84.2 percent, more than 5% above the statewide average, according to The Florida Board of Bar Examiners, which released bar passage rates for Florida’s eleven law schools. FIU joined the University of Florida (86.8%), Florida State University (86.2%) and the University of Miami (86%) as the only four Florida schools with passage rates above 81%. “FIU has consistently ranked at or near the top in bar passage. In February 2009, we ranked first in the state. Today’s results are a continued tribute to the hard work and dedication of our students and the skills of our faculty.” said Dean Alex Acosta.
