The Career Planning and Placement Office (CPPO) at Florida International University College of Law (FIU Law) grants limited reciprocity services to other ABA-accredited and NALP-member schools that afford reciprocity to FIU Law students and graduates. The CPPO reserves the right to modify its Policy of Reciprocity: if the requesting school has a more restrictive policy; to keep pace with the employment demands of local and national legal communities; and, according to its discretion. Further, our policy restricts the use of services to one area school (i.e. Florida International University College of Law, University of Miami School of Law, NSU Shepard Broad Law Center or St. Thomas University School of Law).
Requests for reciprocity must be made for each student or graduate by their law school’s career services administrator. Requests may be faxed, mailed or e-mailed to the CPPO; please allow a reasonable amount of time for us to return a response. Please include the student’s graduate year, graduate status (1L, 2L, 3L, LLM or Graduate), home address and e-mail address. Upon approval, reciprocity will be extended for a period of three months from the date of approval. Each renewal is considered a new request. Reciprocity is unavailable from August 1 to November 30, regardless of when initially requested. Reciprocity visitors must abide by the CPPO’s procedures. Reciprocity letter and school ID must be presented in order to identify yourself on each office visit.
Reciprocity privileges may permit use of CPPO’s Resource Library and access to current job postings, in person.
An applicant granted reciprocity must state in each employer cover letter that, through a reciprocal agreement with the applicant’s school, the job posting was provided by the Career Planning and Placement Office at Florida International University College of Law.
