Dean Austin received her Juris Doctor from Tulane University School of Law. Upon graduation, she served as law clerk to the Honorable Okla Jones in the United States District Court in the Eastern District of Louisiana. Dean Austin came to FIU from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana where she led the College of Engineering Office of Diversity Programs. Prior to that time, she was the Assistant Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at the University of Illinois College of Law. Dean Austin has served on a number of committees including the audit committees for the Law School Admissions Council and the National Association of Law Placement and currently serves as the President of the South Florida Association of Law Placement. Dean Austin is a member of the Louisiana Bar.
