The goal of this research project is to learn about the work of the arbitral institutions that operate in the region, their involvement in the development of commercial arbitration, and also to identify the factors that have facilitated or hindered the growth of commercial arbitration in Latin America. The general perception is that an increasing number of parties are using regional arbitration institutions, instead of the traditional international arbitration centers. This project will be of great value to the users of commercial arbitration in Latin America -including lawyers, businesspeople, and scholars- about the work and features of institutions devoted to commercial arbitration in the region.
This research Project has been launched in collaboration between the Global Legal Studies Initiative of Florida International University College of Law and Smith International Legal Consultants, P.A.
