Certified Legal Intern Requirements (CLI)
The Supreme Court of Florida’s Rules Regulating the Florida Bar permits certified students to engage in the supervised practice of law as part of a law school law practice program. Under the supervision of a member of The Florida Bar approved by the School, certified students may represent the government or indigent clients in civil or criminal matters. Students are certified by the Florida Supreme Court for practice through application and by meeting the requirements of Chapter 11, Rules Regulating The Florida Bar.
- Certification continues for work at the same placement, for 18 months from the date of certification or graduation, whichever comes first.
- Certification at a different placement, within 18 months from the date of certification, requires you to request a “change in supervision to the Office of Externships and Community Service. If had a disclosure in your previous application, you must resubmit your personal statement.
- All CLI certification expires upon graduation.
