The Community Service Program (CSP) is a manifestation of the commitment of the College of Law and the faculty to ensuring that you learn about a lawyer’s role in providing access to justice by assisting in providing legal services to the poor, disadvantaged, and other individuals or groups unable to secure legal assistance to address critical problems. Your community service experience should be an integral part of your law school education and we urge you to participate enthusiastically in a placement that will enable you to help others.
You should start planning for your community service activity during your first year of law school after your first semester of courses. You are responsible for obtaining a placement at an approved site or sponsored program or submit a proposal for approval for an alternate placement before commencing service. The Office of Externships and Community Service is available for guidance in selecting a placement.
