This annual event helps generate support for FIU Law students working in full-time public interest positions during the summer.

MIAMI (February 23, 2011)– Florida International University College of Law will host a reception in honor of Haitian artist Sophia LaCroix and in honor of Black History Month. In her works, Sophia Lacroix uses powerful imagery and strong colors to convincingly portray the strength and bravery of the Haitian people, as well as the innocence and playfulness of Haitian children. She has developed a loyal following of local, international and famous collectors. Sophia has exhibited in group and solo shows in cities throughout the eastern and central United States. Her work will be on loan to the FIU College of Law for two years.
Civics and Law Academy
Florida International University’s College of Law, in conjunction with the American Bar Association and the FIU Office of Engagement, will be hosting a one-day Civics and Law Academy for high school students, on February 19th, 2011, from 8:30am to 5:30pm.
The academy will be divided into 3 sessions which will cover the following topics: Law and Justice, Rights and Responsibilities, and Freedom and Equality.
